Lice like Flexible Seating Policies
Disclaimer–I am sure that flexible seating in schools is beneficial for some students with certain learning conditions. In this blog, I am referring to any student who has access to flexible seating options.
A flexible seating classroom is one in which traditional seating charts are replaced with seating arrangements that allow the students to seat where they choose. (see Wikipedia)
Flexible seating classroom designs can include any of the following items:
- stools
- couches – Lice approved
- beanbag chairs – Lice approved
- chairs
- beds – Lice approved
- mats – Lice approved
- inflatable balls
- standing
- laying on the floor – Lice approved
- pillows – Lice approved
- benches
From the list above a number of the flexible seating resources are lice friendly. It is really important that the teacher and school are aware on how lice could be transferred and take care in minimizing the potential risk to students.
Remember Lysol is a disinfectant, not an insecticide. Policies of vacuuming, lint rollers, head avoidance can have a significant impact in minimizing the risk of lice transmission.
